Pete Tong is being recognized for is contributions to broadcasting and music with 2014's New Year Honours List. He is receiving an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire).
In a statement, Pete says, "It's great to receive this honor for being a DJ. I'm proud that it acknowledges a profession that I care about a great deal, and one that's made a huge impact around the world."
Pete has become icon in the dance music community and especially in dance music radio. Aside from hosting his show "All Gone Pete Tong" on Evolution here in the United States, he has also been known for being a staple personality for BBC Radio 1.
He's also been busy behind the booth recently. Over the past year he has appeared at Coachella, Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas, Tomorrowland in Belgium, TomorrowWorld in Atlanta, The Village at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas, and hosted 2 pool parties during Miami Music Week. Pete also appeared on stage at Ultra Music Festival this year to introduce Swedish House Mafia for their last performance ever as SHM.
